TravelAnywhere started in 2019 when three friends who'd spent years working for big tour operators got fed up with the same tired itineraries and impersonal service. We pooled our savings, rented a small office space above a kebab shop in Salford, and began building something different.
Our team has grown to 14 full-time staff in the UK, plus a network of 47 local guides and partners across Europe and Asia. Every one of our guides has lived in their destination for at least five years. We don't hire people who memorised facts from a textbook - we work with locals who genuinely know their cities inside out.
We've sent over 12,000 travellers on trips since launch. Some come back three or four times a year. Last summer, we had a couple book their eighth trip with us - this time taking their adult children to Japan for the first time. That kind of trust means everything to us.
Our office is still in Salford, though we've moved to a slightly nicer building. The kebab shop is gone, replaced by a coffee roaster. We still argue about itineraries over lunch, still obsess over the small details, and still answer every email personally. That's not going to change.

Things people ask us before booking
UK passport holders can visit Japan for up to 90 days and Thailand for up to 60 days without a visa as of 2026. For longer stays or other nationalities, we'll help sort out the paperwork - just let us know when you book and we'll send you a checklist specific to your passport.
Cancel more than 60 days out and you get everything back minus a £75 admin fee. Between 30-60 days, we keep 25% to cover supplier deposits. Under 30 days gets complicated - depends on what we can recover from hotels and transport. We always try to rebook rather than cancel outright.
Absolutely. About 30% of our travellers have some kind of dietary need - vegetarian, halal, gluten-free, severe allergies. We flag everything with restaurants and hotels before you arrive. Our guides carry translated cards explaining your requirements in the local language, which helps a lot in places like rural Vietnam or Japan.
Most of them, yes. We rate each tour by physical intensity (1-5 scale) and include detailed terrain info. Our Barcelona and Paris tours are mostly flat. Japan involves some temple stairs but nothing extreme. The Vietnam kayaking isn't ideal if you have mobility issues, but we can arrange alternatives. Just tell us your concerns and we'll be straight with you about what works.
We cap groups at 12 people for most tours. The Weekend Escapes and Classic Explorer packages typically run with 6-10 people. Private Luxury is just you and whoever you're travelling with. We never combine groups to hit minimum numbers - if we don't get enough bookings, we'll offer you a reschedule or full refund.
